Launched on January 19, 2022, this wiki is the primary Fandom-hosted resource for the English-speaking LGBTQIA+ community. We hope to create an open, welcoming, and inclusive environment where everyone feels safe and respected. Gender identity is a person's internal, deeply held sense of their own gender (or lack thereof). Unlike gender expression, gender identity is not visible to others. An individual's gender identity may or may not align with their birth assignment. Most people, whether cisgender or transgender, have a gender identity of male/man/boy or female/woman/girl. For others, their gender identity does not fit neatly into one of those binary terms, such as people who are non-binary or genderqueer.

Sexual orientation, also known as sexuality, refers to a person's sexual attractions (or lack thereof) toward others. It is not defined by sexual activity, which can be independent of a person's orientation. It also is not equivalent to a person's gender. While the most common terms are largely described using the gender binary of male or female, sexuality is more expansive than that.

Romantic orientation is related to a person's romantic attractions or desires, generally expressed in terms of which gender or genders a person is attracted to in relation to the person's own. It differs from one's sexual orientation, which is associated with sexual attractions, and a person's romantic and sexual orientation does not have to be the same. The Split Attraction Model is sometimes used to convey these differences.

Lesbian, a term with multiple definitions, is most often defined as a woman who is attracted to other women romantically and/or sexually. The term is generally a self-identification of sexual or romantic orientation. Although lesbians are sometimes described as exclusively attracted to women, others say primarily attracted to women. Definitions may use expanded language, such as women-aligned, a person who self-describes as a woman, and some non-binary and/or genderqueer people who feel a connection to womanhood. Lesbians may be cisgender or transgender; since gender is a separate concept from sexual orientation, someone may be both trans and lesbian.
